Feedback Wido Sagerer (Point Park University, 2009, Sport Camp 2008) Sagerer transferred from Leipzig University of Applied Science, and he is happy to come to Point Park. “Point Park had everything that I wanted,” said Sagerer, a defender who will have three years of eligibility beginning with the 2009 season. “I was looking for a school with a civil engineering major, and I also wanted to make sure that I could play soccer.” Marc Maurer (Holy Names University, 2007) “I really like it here in California. My university is located beautifully. We have a strong team and hope to go far this year. The food in our cafeteria is excellent, which is something one wouldn’t usually expect.” Tobias Flückiger (Sport Camp 2004) “Generally I have to say that I think the idea behind the sport camps is great. They enable you to get in touch with coaches and universities. For a European it would be very difficult to even be noticed when applying to a university otherwise. The Camps really make this first step a lot easier. About the camp itself: I loved the fact that IDEA also organized activities that had nothing to do with soccer, such as a visit to the Universal Studios or sightseeing in Jacksonville. This way we also got to see some parts of Florida and weren’t merely driven from campus to campus or soccer field to soccer field. I think that’s important because these will be life-long memories.” Nicolás Yunes- Washington University (Missouri) ”With IDEA’s help I achieved one of my goals, which was to study at Washington University, one of the USA’s most renowned universities.” Juan Patricio Murphi- University of Maine (Maine) ”The University and its staff have always been and are still very helpful with everything in case I need anything. This made it a lot easier for me to adapt to the American student life. My studies are going well and whenever there are problems there are always people around that I can rely on to help me. Playing soccer is going a lot better than I had expected and I was already selected best player of the team.” Juan Rigat- Brescia University (Kentucky) “Before I arrived in the USA, I faced the very difficult task of trying to find a school that fitted my budget and was also willing to accept me with my limited English skills, and at the same time trying to find a trainer able to offer me a tennis scholarship. Within only one month the people at IDEA managed to make it possible for me to study at a university that fulfils all my needs and expectations. I owe everything to the staff at IDEA. Many, many thanks!” Frederico Cepeda- Lawrence University (Wisconsin) “In my opinion, the IDEA-program is really exceptional. With the help of IDEA, nothing stands in the way to studying abroad. And thanks to the ingenious scholarship system, everyone can find a good university in the USA. IDEA is becoming more and more well-known in the USA and as a result more and better universities are cooperating with the Service.” Marco Ferraina- Lambuth University (Tennessee) “It’s an unbelievable experience. The members of my team are of Irish, Canadian, Norwegian and English descent. This way, I am always experiencing new things and getting to know other cultures. I have come to appreciate the different learning method practised in the USA, with professors and teachers that help you wherever they can. And first and foremost I can do the two things I love most here: study and play football. With the help of the IDEA-program I have been able to reach everything I’ve always wanted.”
